THE RESORT 2023
PRESENTED IN NEW YORK THIS MONTH AND ARRIVING IN NOVEMBER, LAFAYETTE 148 RESORT 2023 IS A CELEBRATION OF ARTFUL INDIVIDUALITY AND INTELLIGENT DESIGN.
An homage to Lafayette 148’s inception among the ‘90s SoHo art scene, Creative Director Emily Smith takes an artist’s hand to House design codes in the new collection. L148’s signature immaculate tailoring, architectural lines, elevated workwear and maritime stripes are transformed through artistic techniques—from textural collages to color blocking to mixed-media embellishment—and a Pop Art palette. A sporty but chic balaclava and crystalline Fair Isle sweater nod to the forthcoming Aspen 148 alpine and ski capsule collection, while strapless column gowns and tuxedo-inspired tailoring present an intellectual approach to Holiday cocktail style. Graphic yet understated, timeless and of-the-moment, the season to come confidently contemporizes L148’s 1990s codes for the modern woman.
An artist’s eye for color and craft continues in the collection’s Made in Italy shoes and accessories. The latest Lafayette 148 icon—the 8-Knot Hobo bag—artfully juxtaposes softness and structure in the finest golden yellow suede. ‘90s-inspired platform wedges are introduced in fuzzy, primary colors, while jet-black neoprene slides make a sculptural statement. Brutalist-inspired baroque brass jewelry has been molded around caged glass stones in the season’s pop colors, while artisanal, fringed Fair Isle scarves layer on an added element of hand-touched tactility.
