Lafayette 148 presents “The Gardens of New York” for Spring 2024, a collection celebrating nature’s thriving presence within the urban environment of New York City. Drawing inspiration from the Brooklyn Grange rooftop farm—located directly in front of the brand’s New York headquarters—and the unexpected co-habitation of the botanical with the architectural Manhattan cityscape, Spring 2024 channels the deeply creative pursuit of urban gardening and the distinctly human connection to nature it cultivates.

A soft, sun-faded aesthetic abounds throughout, underpinned by a sense of ease & comfort that echoes nature’s organic movements & beautiful imperfections. The co-habitation of nature & cities is artfully expressed in eco-printed and jacquard botanical motifs depicting the leaves & flowers spotted growing in the Brooklyn Grange’s rooftop gardens. Intricate hand work lies at the heart of Spring, nodding to the tactile, deeply human element of gardening—from hand-stitched floral embroidery to macrame knitwear. The House’s heritage of modernizing & feminizing vintage uniforms is channelled through reinterpreting the classic garden’s uniform, seen in everything from workwear apron-inspired design details to gardeners’ straw hats—a symbolic final touch to a collection whose versatility brings a harmonious binding to both nature and the city.
