Pattern Making - Head Pattern Maker

The Head Pattern Maker is responsible to lead production fittings for US and China markets and adhere to the design aesthetic and fit for bulk production. The direction will come from this individual to the Pattern Makers and Technical Design teams, recommends modification to the styles to make it viable and efficient for production while keeping design integrity.

Responsibilities:

  • Corrects patterns after production fittings
  • Converts missy patterns to plus and petite sizes
  • Provides guidance and direction to Production Pattern Makers, Cutters/Sewers and Technical Design team regarding Pattern corrections, sample construction and measurements
  • Occasionally develop first pattern
  • Provides help and guidance to Design team as needed
  • Collaborate with Design and Production team to determine optimal construction methods
  • Identify and solve any fit and balance problems, as well as, patterns and samples issues
  • Coach and train the patternmakers

Desired Background:

  • Minimum Bachelor's degree (business and/or management)

Experience:

  • 14+ years’ experience in production patterns in contemporary or designer luxury brands
  • 8-10 years’ experience managing a technical team

Skills:

  • Great eye on design details and proportion
  • Collaborative work style, with excellent interpersonal communication skills
  • Strong multitasking skills, with the ability to seamlessly manage multiple projects at once
  • Team player and able to collaborate cross-functionally to ensure deadlines are met
  • Strong draping and flat pattern making skills
  • Solid understanding of garment construction base on fabric, understand how the fabric behavior will affect the overall fit and appearance and the ability to develop methods to achieve the proper finishing techniques
  • Must know how to sew and understand manufacturing process
  • Must have extensive travel experience to garment factories
  • Must understand and capable of directing team on grade rules standards
  • Knowledge with Gerber Accumark system or similar program is a plus
