ABOUT THE
FALL 2021
collection
Fall 2021 marks the 25th anniversary for Lafayette 148, and for Creative Director Emily Smith, a moment to reset, reengage, reimagine. The hope—to honor how far we’ve come and forge a new way forward by reconnecting with our founding values—kindness, intelligence and integrity.
There’s a distinct sense of purpose to every choice in the collection, and a consciousness of the impact both on people and the planet. Silhouettes are multipurpose, put together in layered looks that blur the boundaries between dressed up and down.
Sustainable materials abound, from sumptuous natural yarns to undyed noble fibers to fabrics spun from recycled filaments. And ease and adaptability are paramount: reversible coats and jackets are offered in abundance.
Standouts include decadent statement coats that command attention yet are cozy enough to wrap up in at home. Also making an impact: a daydream-y abstract nature motif that’s interpreted in novel ways.
Finally, color is key: Fall’s palette of saturated shades is plucked from precious stones and natural elements, with vibrant emerald, ultramarine, ember orange and clay cast against softer tonal shades of gingerroot, seaweed and ink, while an undercurrent of neutrals lend an anchoring, seasonless ground.
