Connecting with Our Community

How we’re supporting our team, our clients and our city in this challenging time.

A Letter from Deirdre Quinn

Co-Founder & CEO, Lafayette 148

To Our Lafayette 148 Family,

Over the last three months, caring for clients, our community and our city has been our driving force. I’ve been so inspired by the way our team has come together and risen to this challenge, as well as by the kind words and generosity of the women we serve.

As parts of the country emerge from staying at home, we’re taking a cautious approach to reopening our boutiques. First and foremost, we’re following the guidance of the CDC and local authorities across the country to determine the safest time to reopen, which will happen on a case-by-case basis.

In the meantime, our team is receiving intensive training on new safety protocols. Among the changes you’ll see will be an appointment-preferred space, masks for guests and stylists, fewer staff on the floor, and enhanced disinfecting measures using the best tools available. We’ll also be offering curbside pickup, home delivery and virtual styling sessions to make your experience as safe, luxurious and seamless as possible. I’ll continue to keep you updated on this in the coming weeks and months.

I’m proud to share that we’ve made extraordinary progress in supporting our home city—New York. In April, we donated twenty percent of sales to The Brooklyn Hospital Center, which has been on the frontlines of the fight against COVID-19. Thanks to all of you, we raised more than $100,000 for this incredible cause. In addition, we donated 28,000 masks to area hospitals and we’ve partnered with the NYC Economic Development Corporation & the Brooklyn Navy Yard to make patterns for much-needed surgical gowns, with hundreds of thousands produced to date.

After much consideration, we’ve decided that our corporate team will continue to work remotely. While we miss being together, we’ve found so many new ways to stay connected and continue to put out a beautiful collection.

While I know there is still uncertainty, I have absolute certainty in my belief that we will get through this together—with kindness, intelligence and integrity. From great challenges comes great strength, and I’ve already seen this in so many ways. Stay safe and know that we continue to be here for you, always.

Sincerely,

Deirdre Quinn

Supporting Our Heroes

The physicians and nurses at the Brooklyn Hospital Center have worked around the clock since the beginning of the COVID-19 crisis to roll out screening services in a designated tent and provide intensive care to patients in desperate need of help. Throughout April, we donated a portion of sales to the hospital, raising more than $100,000 to help their heroic staff as they keep our community safe.

Making Gowns for Our Medical Workers

We’ve partnered with the Brooklyn Navy Yard and The New York City Economic Development Corporation to make
surgical gowns for area hospitals. Our team developed and digitized the initial patterns for the garments, which
are being manufactured in and around the city, including by a team of dedicated sewers in our sample studio.
The initiative will produce hundreds of thousands of gowns to protect first responders.
