Bloor Street - General Manager

The General Manager, Toronto, is responsible for maintaining Lafayette 148’s standards of Leadership, Customer Care, Operational Excellence and Business-driving at our Bloor Street and Yorkdale Shopping Centre locations. He/she is responsible for top line sales and bottom line profit for the store. He/she will leverage available tools and proven skills to lead a team in delivering extraordinary client experiences that drive positive business results and ensure customer loyalty.



  • Undertake overall leadership responsibilities for the boutique
  • Demonstrate an elevated presence that translates the Company’s vision to both customers and staff
  • Lead by example, set clear expectations, and hold the team accountable
  • Provide leadership and tailored coaching to the team by delivering ongoing training, development, and performance feedback
  • Ensure efficient flow of communication of both Company and Store initiatives, directives, policies, and other pertinent information
  • Lead the mindset that “recruitment is everyone’s responsibility” within the store and cultivate a lineup of potential talent for open roles

Customer Care

  • Create an exceptional shopping experience that ensures customer satisfaction and fosters repeat business
  • Act as an ambassador for the brand; model brand standards for customer service and hold the team to the same standards
  • Engage in client correspondence and seek input from customers to measure satisfaction and ensure consistent adherence to service standards
  • Design and develop strategic initiatives that engage and develop existing clients
  • Take a proactive and creative approach to introducing Lafayette 148 to new customers
  • Maintain relationships within the community and partner with local organizations on initiatives that are important to our customers and increase brand visibility

Operational Excellence

  • Own store control-related operational processes including but not limited to: inventory management, loss prevention, sell-through, store expenses, audits, and payroll
  • Assume responsibilities for loss prevention in all areas of risk management, security, cash handling, and inventory management
  • Develop strong working knowledge of POS systems, technologies, and all internal operational procedures
  • Ensure merchandise is presented in accordance with visual, marketing, and operational standards and direction
  • Manage all inventory movement to ensure timely deliverables
  • Partner with Corporate and to ensure alignment on all initiatives 


  • Develop annual and seasonal sales plans with corporate partners
  • Analyze KPI’s and other relevant data to identify opportunities to maximize business, and report information to corporate partners
  • Create and maintain a ‘best in class’ selling environment that meets and exceeds Lafayette 148 selling standards
  • Leverage team’s key strengths and lead initiatives (clienteling, outreach etc.) to drive strong sales and overcome challenged results when necessary
  • Create and execute local business development marketing strategies to engage existing clients and foster new client acquisition
  • Engage proactive dialog with buying team to communicate customers’ requests and surface merchandise opportunities

Desired Background:

  • Bachelor’s degree


  • 8+ years of retail management experience in the designer/ luxury sector
  • Proven track record of success in managing a commissioned selling environment


  • Highly organized and able to adapt quickly to changing priorities
  • Ability to develop, plan, and execute strategies to maximize opportunities
  • Proficiency in utilizing available technology including Outlook, Excel and Word
  • Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to work evenings, weekends and holiday schedules
