Lafayette 148 New York is proud to support PROMISE PROJECT as an extension of our ongoing commitment to provide educational opportunities for disadvantaged children.
PROMISE PROJECT is a nonprofit dedicated to providing an educational path for underprivileged children who struggle with learning disabilities. PROMISE PROJECT sponsors programs that advance the ability of children with learning disabilities who come from low income families to obtain an education.
Currently, 2.6 million American students are diagnosed with learning disabilities, representing 45% of students struggling with disabilities as a whole1. Learning disabilities are a group of neurological disorders that negatively impact learning, including one's ability to process, retrieve and store information.
Without the proper treatment, learning disabilities can often lead to depression, low selfesteem, substance abuse, crime and lifelong poverty2. Providing children and their families affected by learning disabilities with the right path to a valued education, PROMISE PROJECT's work can change children's lives.
Our partnership with PROMISE PROJECT will help fund programs that assist children from disadvantaged families obtain services that will enable them to succeed in school regardless of their ability to pay.
At PROMISE PROJECT's fourth annual "Beautiful Promise" fundraising event - a designer accessories auction and cocktail celebration - Lafayette 148 New York will help shine light on this educational intervention for deserving children struggling to learn. The event, sponsored in part by Lafayette 148 New York, will be held May 3 at Studio 450 in New York City.
